How this site works

A static Astro site with two halves — articles and interactives — and drafts that only exist on my laptop.

This site has two parts that share almost nothing except a header and a stylesheet.

Articles are plain MDX files in one folder. Interactives are self-contained folders: each one brings its own steps, components and, if it needs to, its own pages. Adding the 300th interactive should never mean touching shared code.

How content becomes pages

Drafts

Every article, interactive and step has a draft flag. astro dev shows everything with a yellow badge; astro build never sees drafts, so they can’t leak into a page, a tag list or the RSS feed.

Diagrams

Diagrams are written in D2 and rendered to SVG at build time, so readers download no diagramming code at all.
